Abstract

The current lighting installations at the Faculty of Engineering Sciences, Quevedo State Technical University, to the naked eye, most of the classrooms where academic activities are taught present technical problems, so it is believed that there is a breach of the current technical standards for the implementation of internal lighting systems in academic training centers. This research project reveals the irregularities in the lighting system, as well as the defects that they present, in a generalized and tabulated way in records and graphs that facilitate the understanding of the current situation regarding the lighting of the areas studied. The approach is directly related to the correct implementation of the current norms that help to improve the educational environments and work centers for teachers and students, which would be of vital importance. The methods used were 'The lumens method' to determine the required classroom parameters, 'The point-to-point method' to study the current situation of each of the classrooms, 'Dialux Software' to verify the results obtained from the Current situation and the correct implementation for a recommended situation. Finally, it was found that 75% of the luminaire installations do not comply with Ecuadorian regulations (NEC-HS-EE) and European Union regulations (UNE 12464.1) to provide a quality lighting service to carry out activities academics effectively
