Abstract
A proposal for teaching kichwa to students who must perform professional tasks in indigenous communities is presented.
The proposal is based on a program designed with a communicative approach founded on the development of the four basic communication skills: listening, reading, writing, speaking in order to achieve the student interrelation with the community. Communication skills for the basic level are presented.
The program is structured in three levels. The basic level program structured around the understanding of the function and / or significance of the different kichwas morphemes, use of interrogative words and treatment of cultural topics outlined.
